There’s an army saying: “You don’t have to like it, you just have to do it.” This might seem unpleasant and by definition authoritarian, but it is, in its own way, rather freeing. It takes our opinion out of the equation.
We don’t have to like being calm when everyone else is freaking out. We don’t have to like being kind even to people who are rude. We don’t have to like each one of our responsibilities and duties. We don’t have to like the instructions (assuming they are ethical and just) we’ve been given either.
But this has no bearing on whether we still have to do them or not. We do. It’s our job. It’s our duty.
